Sh*t Guys Should Know About Fashion - #3

From my personal experience, fashion can be pretty hard to follow if you don’t know what people are talking about. So I thought that starting the S**t Guys Should Know About Fashion segment would be a great way to unravel most of the jargon you hear or read about fashion.

If you’ve got any confusing terms to add to the list, just drop them in the comments section and I’ll be happy to help!

Today’s mystery fashion term is:

Ikat is a unique fabric print made using a resist dyeing technique.
The patterns are dyed onto the fabric threads before they are woven into cloth.

The reason I chose Ikat as this week’s mystery term is because you’ve probably seen a lot of it both in the luxury designer labels and on the high street already. It’s a great alternative to Aztec/Navajo prints and it comes in so many colour combinations.

Have a look at some of my favourite looks featuring Ikat fabric

  2. For extra information, Ikat originated from Indonesia, my home country. I'm really glad how traditional aesthetics that have been slowly forgotten (not just Ikat) are now promoted by fashion designers.

Thanks to Mr Muotoh for posting this!
